The Gustavian Weekly

I redesigned The Gustavian Weekly’s website during the summer of 2009, and served as the Web Editor during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 years. The Gustavian Weekly is Gustavus Adolphus College’s student newspaper. In this capacity, I edited and posted web content on a weekly basis, moderated comments, managed the design, and developed tools to efficiently and effectively manage and present the content. I also developed a system to manage advertisement information for staff, developed a system to manage and collect senior congratulation notices, and wrote stories for the print and web editions of The Weekly.

During my time at The Weekly, the website won multiple awards for excellence as a student newspaper web publication from the Associated Collegiate Press, the oldest and largest college student journalist membership organization. The Weekly was a 2011 Online Pacemaker Winner, 2010 Online Pacemaker Finalist, and won a fifth place award at the 2010 Best of Midwest journalism convention.

JingleTom.com

JingleTom.com is the home of my creative musical endeavors. I have always enjoyed listening to creative radio commercials, and wanted to try my hand at making some. I wrote the web application that powers the website, and produced all of the jingles.

GAC TV

I redesigned the GAC TV student news program’s website to better match the look and feel of GAC TV episodes. In addition, I updated the site with new episodes, and trained others on how to manage the site.

Day at the Capitol

I worked with Marketing and Communication and Web Services at Gustavus Adolphus College to establish a new web page and produce a promotional video for Day at the Capitol, a day in which college students from around Minnesota visit the state capitol to advocate for state support of need-based scholarships in the spring of 2010. I worked to update the website in the spring of 2011.

Sigma Sigma Sigma

I worked with the Sigma Sigma Sigma fraternity at Gustavus to restructure and update web content, and completely redesign their website, while focusing on organization goals.

Sliding Through Summer

What started out as a poem for a Creative Writing course morphed into a community art project. The interactive piece allows visitors to submit a line for the poem. I wrote the poem and the code that pulls a random user-submitted line near the bottom of the poem.

Zephyrus

I designed the Zephyrus newspaper’s template, and filled more that 500 individual pages with stories and images from the print version of the newspaper, when I served as the Zephyrus webmaster during the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school years. Zephyrus is the student newspaper at Edina High School in Edina, MN.
